Most people encounter small bumps on the road of life. I encountered a hillside. The airplane that I was riding in crashed nose first, almost killing me. What happened over the next 20 years lead me to start mindsdomatter.
Untill the crash, I was a normal healthy person. After the crash, I spent years recovering from both work and crash injuries. When I was finally well enough to leave my house, I went to the Department of Rehabillitation. After a long testing period, I was given a chance to go to Cal State University, San Bernardino. The university was well equipped to handle disabled students, so life to me really had not changed, until I graduated. Then my real education began.
When I started looking for work, I did all the right things to do. I started getting responses, interviews, even being told welcome aboard. Yet nothing happened. It was like I fell of the face of the earth. So, I started asking questions, and what I learned was, this was normal for disabled people. Not just because of the economy, unemployment is high because it is accepted. How can I make this statement.
80 - 85 percent unemployment among disabled persons. That is unreal, it is unacceptable and someone needs to say something about it. That is what I intend to do. But, how?
I started a grass roots movement at Cal State University, San Bernardino. The university and I realized that this is something that needs to be addressed. So, with their help I am going on a media and college tour. My friends at B&B motorcycles made it possible to get the right bike to use. I am going to ride my bike from Santa Monica, California to Chicago, Illinois. I will speak to all types of media: Radio, TV, etc. I will also make stops at major universities along the way. It takes a lot to do this, and I need your help. Please help me help others.
